Who we are?

The Center for Research in Social Innovations in the Public Sphere (NISP) is linked with the postgraduate program in administration and the department of public administration at UDESC/ESAG. Besides the research, their members promote, in an articulated way, transfer and teaching.

The NISP focuses on the study and support for collective actions that have been promoting social innovations in the public sphere (institutionalized or not). This includes initiatives from both government and civil society and business, as well as the new institutional arrangements that are built in the negotiated articulation between these actors to face public problems.

In particular, we are interested in developing studies on initiatives – actions, organizations or networks – that promote social innovation or have an impact on public policies and problems. It seeks to understand the influence of these experiences in terms of social innovation in the public arenas in which they act and in fostering new development styles.
